Kaffe Fassett Lecture

Kaffe FassettThe Kaffe Fassett lecture is designed to energize and motivate. The presentation highlights works from his latest projects, including his patchwork quilts, fabric, needlepoint, mosaic, painting and knitting designs. A tremendous amount of Kaffe's inspiration comes from his continual travels and his lecture is designed not so much to instruct but to empower and inspire the audience to create and develop their "mind's eye."

Audiences leave invigorated and entranced by Kaffe's sense and use of color; they are ready to try it themselves and are encouraged to do so.The slide show lasts approximately 1 hour followed by a question and answer session and book signing.

Create interesting 3-D effects to use in a quilt block, on a pillow, a yoke on a jacket, ideas are endless. We will be making this leaf/flower design. If you have taken the Gelli Plate printing class, some of those fabrics can be used here. Batiks are great for this. Golden Quilt Company has a great selection of batiks, and semi solids that will create beautiful works.

Marie will take you through the steps to create what you need to enjoy this easy to take along hand sewing project: strip cutting technique and construction techniques.

  • Please note: Due to the volume of attendees, we will not issue any refunds for our "Special Events" including the Kaffe Fassett lecture and workshop.

  • Class fees do not include required books/patterns or supplies.

  • Any supply purchases at GQC will be discounted 20%.

  • Some of our classes have a kit fee required. This is done as a courtesy to the student because the supplies are either/or both too hard to find or too expensive, or you will only use a small amount. It is the intention of the instructors to recoup costs, not make a profit.

  • Please pay all kit fees directly to the instructor on the first day of class. Teachers will take checks, but prefer cash.

  • If your class does not have a kit then make sure to ask for a supply list. These will be available in the shop or sent electronically so be sure to provide your email address when signing up.

  • Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of class so that you can unload tools and supplies and set up your work space thus allowing the class to begin on time.

  • Please plan accordingly. There are no "make-ups" for missed classes. If you must miss a scheduled session of your class, you may enroll in the next available session only if there is room available. No refunds will be given.

  • Students enrolled in classes cancelled by the store/instructor due to lack of enrollment, instructor illness or inclement weather will receive a full refund or class credit as desired.


Beginner- must know how to use their sewing machine, including threading, bobbin winding, stitch & tension adjustment.

Advanced Beginner-has completed the beginning and finishing up series of classes.

Intermediate- has made at least 3 or 4 quilts

Advanced- all of the above plus is a seasoned quilter who has mastered quarter inch seams, accurate rotary cutting, and is able to understand and follow pattern directions.
