As always on first Friday, the shop will be open until 8pm and all fabric will be discounted 20% between the hours of 5 and 8pm.

Hexies are EASY! There is a resurgence in "hand work" and although I've said that "hand" is a four-letter-word I've embraced the zen of making hexies. And they are a great travel project....no pattern to follow and it's a great pick up and put down project. You'll learn some tips and trick to make them. Bet you can't make just one! Kit contains ruler, hexie paper piecing templates and enough 2 1/2" fabric strips to make a table runner. Kit required.

In this four session class you will learn about fabric selection, rotary cutting tools and simple construction techniques and make a baby quilt 48" x 57" complete with stitch in the ditch quilting and binding. Six batik fat quarters and a yard of contrast is all you'll need to explore curved piecing or edge stitching to create this 16" x 23" wall hanging. Let’s create, color outside the lines (or not), and feel like a kid again while achieving professional results. We will be exploring the use of Blue School Glue, Karo Syrup and flour paste as a form of resist to create batik type effects on fabric. There will be a 2nd class to paint, dye or color our resisted fabrics. (Techniques need to dry.) The 2nd class we will do more paint, dye, and color our fabrics. We can also discuss how we might use these new fabrics.

  • *Price of Quilt 'til You Wilt covers overhead expenses, soft drinks & standard pizza. All attendees will be charged. Those with dietary restrictions please bring your own meal.

  • Please note: Due to the volume of attendees, we will not issue any refunds for our "Special Events" including the Kaffe Fassett lecture and workshop.

  • Class fees do not include required books/patterns or supplies.

  • Any supply purchases at GQC will be discounted 20%.

  • Some of our classes have a kit fee required. This is done as a courtesy to the student because the supplies are either/or both too hard to find or too expensive, or you will only use a small amount. It is the intention of the instructors to recoup costs, not make a profit.

  • Please pay all kit fees directly to the instructor on the first day of class. Teachers will take checks, but prefer cash.

  • If your class does not have a kit then make sure to ask for a supply list. These will be available in the shop or sent electronically so be sure to provide your email address when signing up.

  • Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of class so that you can unload tools and supplies and set up your work space thus allowing the class to begin on time.

  • Please plan accordingly. There are no "make-ups" for missed classes. If you must miss a scheduled session of your class, you may enroll in the next available session only if there is room available. No refunds will be given.

  • Students enrolled in classes cancelled by the store/instructor due to lack of enrollment, instructor illness or inclement weather will receive a full refund or class credit as desired.

Levels:

Beginner- must know how to use their sewing machine, including threading, bobbin winding, stitch & tension adjustment.

Advanced Beginner-has completed the beginning and finishing up series of classes.

Intermediate- has made at least 3 or 4 quilts

Advanced- all of the above plus is a seasoned quilter who has mastered quarter inch seams, accurate rotary cutting, and is able to understand and follow pattern directions.
